Hopefully, they'll work out the issues with their drivers upgradability otherwise I might be stuck with win8.1 on this laptop and I'll have to buy a new one with Win10 oem. I'm pinning my hopes on Dell's next BIOS version release. Sometimes it feels like I need a Ph.d in advanced computing just to deal with all the bugs and issues that pop up every now and then.īut even after attempting the upgrade from a clean factory reset with full updates and no additional 3rd party software (so as to reduce risk of interference and conflicts), it still doesn't work. This is silly, not being able to install win 10., all they are doing is frustrating thousands of people who can't put win 10 on their machine, i am at the point of just giving up. So unless it is a fault in the win 10 program then dell needs to step up and help users People say all kinds of things, some i would never attempt in case i bugger it up.ĭell needs to be upfront and come out with some information, i know it is a windows program we are trying to install and it is not their product, but the problem is actually their machine that will not install it. I wish dell would have some information, it is their product i am sure they know whats going on and all the failed installation on their machines.
Not sure where to find the bios version, and what happened to the other guy makes me nervous about updating it. My computer is a Inspiron 17(7737) win 8.1 64 bit, dell says it is up to date With the Media download tool the message was " the installation failed in the second_boot phase with an error during boot operation" Turned it off again and after the dell logo it said, restoring previous version of windows It does the Copying files ok, then computer restarts then installation continues and now it is installing features and drivers, that goes ok, computer restarts again and should finish the 3rd part, which is configuration settings, the dell logo comes up then screen goes black, i waited an hour and it stayed black no curser showingĪfter the hour i turned it off and on again, it said attempting to recover installation, screen went black ,waited half an hour, nothing. It downloads ok (win 10) then i get the install screen with the big circle and percentage in it
